Description
There are many different types of collagen found in the body, but the main focus has been on 3 in particular – named simply Type I, II & III.
Collagen is the primary protein in the body, with Types I & III making up over 90% of the total content within the body.
Type I & III are the major components of hair, skin, nails, teeth, eyes, blood vessels, muscles, tendons, ligaments, and bones and are responsible for growth, maintenance and repair of the body.
Due to the ageing process, the body’s ability to make collagen slows down, and this means there is not enough for the generation of new tissues.
Ageing can also cause the collagen fibres that are present in the body to lose their moist texture and become more rigid, which is largely due to the damage caused by free radicals that are created when the body uses oxygen.
Supplemental use provides the necessary nutrients to promote healthy joint cartilage and to repair any damage to existing collagen tissues.
It also greatly improves conditions for sufferers of osteoarthritis (natural wear and tear of joint cartilage), and other joint problems, by relieving the pain and swelling associated with these conditions.
