Maca Root

Description

Maca Root is a member of the radish family and for centuries has grown wild in the Andes mountains of South America. No other food plant exists in the world which will grow at such high an altitude and flourish as well as the Maca plant does.

Native South American shepherds noticed that as they grazed their herds in higher elevations, where the Maca Root grows naturally, the herds became healthier, and much more sexually active.

They then began to harvest the plant and it in their diets, and found it helped promote increased energy and stamina.

It was also traditionally used as an aphrodisiac for both men and women

Maca Root contains significant amounts of several amino acids, complex carbohydrates, Vitamins B1, B2, B12, C and E and many minerals, including calcium, Phosphorus, Zinc, Magnesium and Iron.

Due to the number of steroidal glycosides present in Maca Root, it is gaining popularity among athletes and body builders as it is considered to buffer the effects of exercise induced stress.
