Psyllium Husk (also known as Plantago ovata, P. indica L., P. psyllium L, P. ovata, P. decumbens, P. ispaghula, P. arenaria and P. asiatica) is native to the Mediterranean, but is cultivated in different varieties widely throughout the world, including Russia, China, India, Egypt, Cuba, and Europe.
The seeds are used in Western medicine, and the whole plant is used in Oriental medicine.
Psyllium Husk is indigestible and a source of soluble dietary fibre used to relieve constipation, irritable bowel syndrome, and diarrhoea; its main purpose is as a bulk laxative due to its water-absorbent properties.
Psyllium Husk is also used as a dietary supplement to improve and maintain regular Gastro Intestinal transit. The inert bulk of the husks helps provide a constant volume of solid material irrespective of other aspects of the diet.
This product is a powder and ground more finely than the main product image; perfect for smoothies, tablets and capsule.
