Tongkat Ali is a shrub native to Indonesia, Malaysia, and, to a lesser extent, Thailand, Vietnam, and Laos.
The name Tongkat Ali translates as “Ali’s walking stick” in the Malay language and indicates the reputation of the shrub to fight against physical exhaustion and mental fatigue by strengthening the immune system.
For the production of this particular extract, only ten year old roots are used as it has been found that the glyco-proteins that make up the active component of the extract are more highly concentrated in the roots, especially older ones.
Tongkat Ali is primarily used for enhancing testosterone production and, when taken in appropriate doses, has been shown to increase blood testosterone levels.
Because of this, it is used in a variety of men’s health products relating to sexual performance and is also very popular with body builders and fitness enthusiasts for maintaining performance.
Also known Eurycoma Longifolia Jack or ‘Long Jack’.
