Turmeric

Description

Turmeric is widely used in Indian cooking and is sometimes known as the ‘spice of life’.

It has been used within the Ayurvedic system of medicine for thousands of years and in ancient history, curry powders and spices were used to preserve food. As a result, studies have revealed that Turmeric is a very powerful antioxidant.

In traditional medicine it has been used for many years as a remedy for liver disorders, and is believed to reduce inflammation and strengthen its function.

It is also useful in treating minor digestive and gastro-intestinal problems such as appetite loss and bloating, and has been shown to successfully relieve the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis because of its anti-inflammatory effect.
